In Estonia

Today is already April first! Wow! April 1, 2006 Aleks and Jen are looking out the window and we see the half frozen Baltic Sea, spots of piled up snow and the town of Sillamae, Estonia, just as it always looks. Our flight left on Tuesday the 28th—and after 23 hours of travel, on and off planes waiting in lines to get tickets confirmed and eating as much as we could in the airport because the airlines hardly serve you a cup of water, we made it to Tallinn. We spent one night in Tallinn and finally made it to Romka’s parents on the 30th—now just barely adjusted to being on the opposite side of the world. Aleksei is outside bundled up as much as anyone could imagine walking with his Gala and Ded.

Aloysha has a few cousins here—so far he has met his brother Max and sister Kristina (they call cousins their brother or sister in Russian) Also, Olga—whom is Aloysha’s cousin too, has a daughter Karin Annika. Max and Aleks played together just like the see each other every day. (Max is 4) It feels good to be here and see family and an amazing feeling to realize that you have family and friends spread throughout the world who love and care about you.
